Kelsey Letourneau is in her seventh season as a member of the Gustavus women's basketball coaching staff in the 2024-25 academic year. She was named the program's associate head coach in August of 2024.
Letourneau joined the Gustavus women's basketball coaching staff in the 2018-19 season. Since then, Letourneau has helped coach the Gusties to five top-five MIAC finishes, including the program's first-ever outright MIAC regular season championship, and the only three MIAC playoff championships.
In the team's most recent season, Letourneau helped coach the Gusties to their third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. The 2023-24 squad wrote themselves into the women's basketball record books 20 times, setting single season records for MIAC winning percentage (.950), team field goal percentage (47.9%), and team assists (502). The team posted its highest ever national ranking (No. 4) and was the first in MIAC history to have all five starters selected as All-Conference.
A 2013 Gustavus graduate, Kelsey Florian Letourneau was a key contributor for the Gustie women's basketball team from 2009-13, appearing in 97 career games and starting 50, with the team making the MIAC playoffs all four years. Letourneau posted her best numbers in her senior season, averaging 11.6 points per game, leading the team in assists (76), free throw percentage (.762), and assist-turnover ratio (1.29). Letourneau was named the MIAC's 2012 Sixth Player-of-the-Year and 2013 Honorable Mention All-MIAC.
After leaving Gustavus, Letourneau got her master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences at Ithaca College in New York. While obtaining her master’s, Letourneau was a graduate assistant women’s basketball coach at Ithaca and helped coach the team to two conference championships as well as two NCAA tournament appearances. While at Ithaca, some of Letourneau was involved in analyzing film and scouting opponents, assisting the head coach with recruiting, and helping design drills for team practices.
In 2015, Letourneau took an assistant women’s basketball coaching position at Cornell University, and assisted in duties such as recruiting, developing scouting reports, and overseeing student workers and managers. After one season at Cornell, Letourneau worked as an assistant coach at Franklin & Marshall College from 2016-18 where she helped with many duties such as designing practice drills, scouting opponents, and recruiting.
Letourneau lives in Shakopee with her husband, BJ, and their two children, Aidan and Carsen.
