Mike Carroll is entering his 26th season as the head women's hockey coach at Gustavus in the 2024-25 season. During his tenure behind the Gustie bench, Carroll has turned Gustavus women’s hockey into one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division III. He has compiled an overall record of 514-128-48 in 25 seasons and has the most coaching victories in the history of the program. The Gusties defeated Amherst on the road in a triple overtime thriller, 2-1, playing in the longest title game in Division III history.
Carroll has directed the Gusties to 18 MIAC regular season titles (2000-01, 2001-02, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24) and has been named the MIAC Coach-of-the-Year nine times (2001-02, 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2010-11, 2012-13, 2016-17, 2019-20, 2021-22, 2023-24).
