Mara Quam was named the assistant coach of the Gustavus volleyball team in spring of 2025.
Quam, a 2021 graduate of nearby Minnesota State-Mankato, lettered in volleyball in all five of her seasons for the Mavericks from 2017-21.
Quam joins the coaching staff after serving as an assistant coach at Division II Winona State University for three seasons. In her time at WSU, Quam coached player Kylie Welch to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All-Conference honors in her senior year.
While a player at MSU-Mankato, Quam played libero and graduated holding the program’s all-time record in career digs (1,841). As a sophomore in 2018, Quam led the NSIC in digs per set and ranked sixth as a senior in 2021. She was a two-time NSIC All-Conference selection, three-time Defensive Player of the Week, and two-time NSIC All-Academic Team awardee.
Quam is a native of Kenyon, Minn. and graduated from Kenyon-Wanamingo in 2017. She earned her degree in sport management with a minor in marketing from MSU-Mankato, and graduated with her master's degree in sport management and educational leadership from Winona State.
