SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Gustavus women's soccer team Wednesday was handed a 4-0 setback at St. Kate's dropping to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in the MIAC, while the Wildcats improved to 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the league.
Gustavus was whistled for a penalty inside the box 10 minutes into the game and a penalty kick goal from Ari Green proved to be the game-winner. Green completed the hat trick before halftime and added her fourth in the second frame for the decisive win.
The Wildcats controlled possession with a 26-7 advantage in shots overall and 16-4 on goal.
Katelyn Olson made a season-high 12 saves in the complete game effort. The Wildcats also had nine corner kicks compared to zero for the Gusties.
"Tough score to swallow today, but credit to this team for turning it around and competing hard especially in the beginning of the second half," Head Coach
Laura Burnett-Kurie said. "We can take away positives from this game, despite the scoreline, and we know we will rebound for our next tough match up on Saturday."
Gustavus travels to Concordia on Saturday.
