MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Gustavus women's soccer team played to its first draw of the season, a 0-0 tie at Concordia on Saturday. The Gusties move to 7-6-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the MIAC, while the Cobbers are now 5-5-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the league.
"We battled hard today," Head Coach
Laura Burnett-Kurie said. "It's a tough surface and field to play on, and the game is always super physical. Despite that, we had bouts of strong possession and created some very dangerous moments in the run of play. Defensively we kept our shape, which allowed us to make their final ball predictable for our goalkeeper. In the dangerous moments Concordia had, we had numerous players step up and make big plays."
Concordia kept the Gustie defense on its toes, winning the shot count 15-6 overall and 12-3 on goal.
Katelyn Olson stood up the challenge, matching her season-high with 12 saves for her third shutout in the past four games.
Gustavus travels to St. Olaf on Wednesday.
