SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus women's soccer team Thursday treated its home crowd to a 3-0 shutout victory over Northwestern-St. Paul, improving to 6-5 overall.
With the first half winding down,
Cambelle Waldspurger centered a pass to
Sigrid Rohrer for what proved to be the game-winning goal. The score marked Rohrer's first goal of her career with Waldspurger picking up her team-leading third assist of the season. The Gusties held a 11-4 advantage in shots on goal in the first 45 minutes.
Nearly 20 minutes into the second half,
Gabriela Rodriguez knocked in her third goal of the season on a rebounded shot as
Payton Mahady and
Annika Lewis earned the assists for a 2-0 lead. And with less than 10 minutes remaining,
Alexis Lin scored the dagger with her first career goal, assisted by
Grace Dlouhy.
Gustavus outshot the Eagles 18-9 on goal as
Katelyn Olson earned the clean sheet after making nine saves.
The Gusties are back in action Saturday at home against Saint Benedict.
