DULUTH, Minn. - After suffering a four-game setback Tuesday at UW-River Falls, the Gustavus volleyball team bounced back in convincing fashion Friday night at St. Scholastica, cruising to a straight set victory over the Saints. The 16th-ranked Gusties improve to 15-5 overall and 4-0 in the MIAC, while the Saints drop to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Gustavus claimed the first four points in the opening set and never looked back for a dominant 25-9 win. The second frame was more of the same as the Gusties opened with a 5-1 lead and never trailed in a 25-11 decision. The third set was the most competitive but once again the Gusties never trailed and cruised to a 25-14 victory.
The Gusties hit a season-high .449 on the attack while limiting the Saints to a .026 rate.
Lauren Klaith led the way with 12 kills and a .458 hitting percentage.
Leah Berg was next with 11 kills and hit at .500 percent.
Kasie Tweet dished out 34 assists while
Maren Sundberg had 11 digs.
Marlee Turn added 10 digs and eight kills.
Gustavus is back in action tomorrow night at Hamline.
