KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches released its NCAA Division III Men's All-America Teams on Thursday and Gustavus defender
Otis Anderson (5th, Minneapolis) has been selected to the Third Team, becoming the 17th All-American in Gustavus men's soccer history. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the Gusties have boasted an All-American, excluding 2020, when no postseason honors were awarded.
Anderson earned United Soccer Coaches Region IX First Team honors earlier in the week, and was named MIAC All-Conference for the third time in his career this year. Anderson played and started in all 22 of the Gusties' games. The fifth-year defender totaled a career-high 10 assists this season, as well as 36 shots, 20 shots on goal, and a team-leading 1,823 minutes of playing time. Anderson broke the program record for assists in a single game, with four against St. Scholastica on Oct. 28. Anderson's only goal of the season came with clutch timing, converting a game-winning PK against Wartburg in the team's NCAA first round appearance. Defensively, Anderson helped the Gusties post a goals against average of 1.05, limiting opponents to 9.8 shots per game. Anderson's efforts led the Gusties to a record of 11-4-7, a spot in the MIAC playoff championship game, and the team's 15th NCAA tournament appearance.
