SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus women's soccer team Sunday lost 4-2 to the University of Dubuque at the Gustie Soccer Field. The Gusties drop to 3-4 overall while the Spartans improve to 4-2.
Dubuque got off to a quick start with a pair of goals in the first 16 minutes and added another before halftime for a 3-0 lead after the first 45 minutes. The Spartans made it 4-0 in the 59th minute before the Gusties ended the shutout at the 71:24 mark.
Annika Lewis (Hudson, Wis.) scored her second goal of the season with an assist from
Payton Mahady (Minnetonka, Minn.). In the final minute of play,
Ellen Becken (Prior Lake, Minn.) scored her second goal of the season with the help of
Alexis Lin (Albuquerque, New Mexico).
Claire Hemstock (North Mankato, Minn.) played the first 64 minutes in goal, making three saves.
Katelyn Olson (Cloquet, Minn.) played the remainder of the game without facing a shot. The Gusties outshot the Spartans 12-10.
Gustavus returns to conference play Saturday at Hamline.
