NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Gustavus volleyball team earned a pair of 3-0 victories at the Carleton Triangular on Saturday, improving to 13-3 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC.
Gustavus 3, Carleton 0
The first set proved to be the most competitive eight ties and three lead changes. Midway through the set, Carleton went on a 8-2 run for a 16-11 lead before the Gusties responded with an 11-3 run for a 22-19 advantage.
Leah Berg (Kenyon, Minn.) closed out a 25-22 first set with a kill.
The Knights took the first point of the second set but that would be their last lead of the frame as the Gusties responded with four straight points and never trailed the rest of the way in a 25-13 win. The third was more of the same as the Gusties closed out the match with a commanding 25-11 win.
Marlee Turn (Kennedy, Minn.) led the offense with 15 kills and a season-high .481 hitting percentage.
Kasie Tweet (Adrian, Minn.) posted 39 assists and 10 digs.
Gustavus 3, Grinnell 0
After a back and forth start to the first set, the Gusties went on a 10-2 run for a 12-5 lead and went on to a 25-20 win. Gustavus never trailed in the second for a 25-19 decision and went on to win the third in convincing fashion 25-14.
Lauren Klaith (Rockford, Minn.) posted 14 kills and a .387 attack percentage. Tweet had 32 assists and 10 digs for her second double-double of the day.
Maren Sundberg (Eagan, Minn.) led the back line with 12 digs.
Gustavus hosts Macalester on Wednesday night.
