SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Gustavus gymnastics team opened its season Friday night at Hamline and took second place in a triangular with the Pipers and UW-Stout. The Gusties scored a total of 179.225 while UW-Stout won the meet with a score of 187.225. Hamline totaled 178.700.Â
Olivia Jahnke highlighted the meet for the Gusties, taking second place on the floor with a score of 9.650.
Maddox Lee was not far behind, taking fifth place with a total of 9.475. On the bars, the Gusties claimed three of the top five finishers.
Sophie Schmitz took third with a 9.125.
Kendra Smaby and
Lili Guy tied for fourth at 9.100.
Marley Michaud and Guy led the team on the vault, each scoring 9.350, while
Maddox Lee led on the beam with a 8.950, taking ninth place. Lee totaled 35.500 in the all around for second place and Michaud scored 33.725 for third.Â
Gustavus hosts UW-Eau Claire next Friday for its home opener.Â
