BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – First-year setter
Macie Malchow (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was named Gustavus' representative on the MIAC Volleyball All-Playoff Team on Monday, Nov. 18.
Malchow was one of the Gusties' leaders in the team's 3-0 loss to Saint Benedict in the semifinals, collecting nine kills on 17 attempts with two errors to hit .412 in the match. She chipped in a pair of assists, as well as two service aces. Defensively, she added six digs to her stat line. This is the second honor of her career from the conference, as she was selected as the
MIAC Athlete of the Week on Oct. 7.
Malchow joins the likes of
Lauren Klaith (5th, Rockford, Minn.),
Kasie Tweet (5th, Adrian, Minn.),
Maren Sundberg (Jr., Eagan, Minn.),
Sydney Olson '23, and
Marlee Turn '24 as the sixth Gustie to receive All-Playoff distinction. Tweet was a two-time selection, earning the award in the last two seasons. The MIAC established the All-Playoff team in 2022.
The Gusties finished the season 20-10 overall and 11-0 in the MIAC, becoming the first conference school to compile three consecutive undefeated league records. The 2024 MIAC Regular Season Champions were upset in the second round of the conference playoffs by Saint Benedict, and were passed up for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.Â
