MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Gustavus men's and women's track & field teams kicked off the 2024-25 indoor season at the University of Minnesota's M City Indoor Classic on Friday and had a number of notable performances against Division I, II, and III competition.Â
"We had a really good early season meet today," said Head Coach
Aaron Lund. "This meet helps our athletes see where they're at in their training and can help direct us on what to focus on next. We now have performers leading the conference in their events and putting up some impressive marks. We even had a few lifetime bests today which is a great sign and shows that the hard work is paying off this early into the season."
Megan Geraets had the top performance of the day, running the 300-meter in 40.86, which is the second fastest time in program history and the seventh fastest in NCAA Division III history.Â
Kate Carlson ran the 60-meter prelims and took 11th place in 7.99.Â
Allison Stacy took 18th in 8.28 and
McKenzie Luetmer finished 20th in 8.44. Luetmer and Stacy also competed in the 300-meter, taking seventh and eighth, respectively, in 44.35 and 44.81.
Carlson then ran the 200-meter against a field of all St. Thomas runners and finished 10th in 26.33.
In the field,
Alli Graff led the women's pole vaulters, taking sixth place with a height of 10-8.25. Geraets had the top Division III distance in the long jump, taking second place overall with a mark of 17-10.25. AndÂ
Sarrah Lindner finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 33-10.75.
On the men's side,Â
Jade Anstine ran in the 60-meter prelims and took 11th in 7.07.Â
Zechariah Kyoore finished 13th in 7.24. Anstine also ran the 200-meter and finished fifth in 22.98 and was the fastest Division III competitor.
Sam Schulze took sixth in the 400-meter at 53.83,
Tyler Stursa took seventh in the 600-meter in 1:28.51, and
Cohen Stursa placed fifth in the 300-meter at 36.73, while
Noah Stageberg took eighth in 38.32

The Gusties had four pole vaulters compete and were led by
Logan Marzinske and
Joe Ream who both cleared a height of 12-11.75 for second place.
Ben Wynia took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 19-4.25.

Gustavus now breaks until Jan. 18 when it competes at St. Olaf.Â
