SAINT PETER, Minn. — The Gustavus gymnastics team picked up its second consecutive WIAC dual victory, defeating Winona State 188.875-186.800 on Senior Night. The Gusties were led by
Maddox Lee, who once more set a Gustie record, claiming the program's highest score on the beam with a 9.775. The Gusties won the bars, beam, and floor over WSU en route to the victory. The team's 188.875 betters the program record, set two weeks ago.
The Gusties started off on the vault, scoring a 47.200 as a team, their second highest mark this season.
Lindsay Bangs and
Abby Willis were the highest Gustie finishers, tying for second with a score of 9.500. Lily Guy wasn't far behind, posting a 9.475 for fourth. Winona State's Madysen Diskerud took first with a score of 9.550.Â
On the bars, Lee shined once more, scoring a 9.575 to claim first.
Sophie Schmitz was the next highest Gustie finisher, matching her career-high 9.350 for third.
Lily Horsch scored a season-high 9.175, and the team finished with a 46.175 to the Warriors' 44.525.Â
Gustavus was sensational on the beam, led by Lee with a record-breaking career-best 9.775 for fist place.
Izzy Breitkreutz added a career-best 9.700 to finish third, followed by
Olivia Jahnke who matched her season-high 9.675 to take fifth overall on the beam.
Katy Cash contributed another personal-best for the Gusties, adding a 9.575 to the team total. The Gusties posted a 47.525 total over the Warriors' 47.475 in the event.Â
In the floor exercise,
Marley Michaud and
Olivia Jahnke socred a 9.625 for a three-way first-place tie with WSU's Bryce Stoltz. Lee finished next with a 9.600, while
Lili Guy added a 9.575 and
Ella Binfet finished with a season-high 9.550. The team scored a total of 47.975 on floor, the best mark all season.
Lee earned another All-Around victory, finishing with a score of 38.300 and three career-high scores in bars, beam, and floor.Â
The Gusties have one more WIAC dual before the conference championships, heading to UW-Whitewater next weekend for a Saturday 1 p.m. meet.Â
