2/24/2024 10:16:00 PM

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Gustavus track & field program finished competition at the MIAC Indoor Championships on Saturday with the women taking third and the men placing fifth.

The Gustie women captured five event titles and set three school records. Megan Geraets highlighted the day by claiming first in the 200-meter, 400-meter, and long jump, and was a member of the winning 4x200 relay with Kate Carlson, Ally Rakow, and Danielle Miller. Geraets' 200-meter time of 25.16 set the school, facility, and MIAC championship record. The 4x200 relay time of 1:43.62 also set the school record. Madi Kes also earned a title in the triple jump with a school record leap of 38-5.5.

Carlson earned All-Conference in the 60-meter with a time of 7.74, finished second. She also took second for All-MIAC in the 200-meter at 25.34. Rakow earned All-Conference in the high jump, taking second with a height of 5-4.25.

"The energy, passion, and effort were at an all time high this weekend," Head Coach Aaron Lund said of the women. "The five teams over 100 points all have nationally ranked competitors and put forth some amazing performances. Taking third was a great team effort.

"Kate, Megan, Ally, Dani, Evelyn, Molly, Kenzie, Alli, Jenna, Madi, Sarrah, Camille, Erin, and Kelly all stood out this weekend in competitive events and helped our team in a big way. We have talent and depth. And our talent and depth showed up by doing their best when it meant the most. I am super proud of this team. We have some unfinished business in the weeks ahead with next week's meet and indoor nationals. After that, we will turn our focus to the outdoor season and give those other teams our best shot."

The men's 4x200 relay of Isaiah Subah, Jade Anstine, Nathan Le, and Noah Stageberg finished third with a time of 1:30.16, which ranks second in school history. Subah took second in the long jump with a leap of 22-7, earning All-Conference. Anstine earned All-Conference in the 60-meter with a third place time of 7.00. Danny Bies finished third in the high jump with an All-MIAC height of 6-4.

"The final score and place don't tell the full story," Lund said of the Gustie men. "We beat Macalester, Carleton, and Concordia teams that were ahead of us last outdoor. We are a really talented team that was competitive in all event areas. We have a lot to be proud of and we have a lot to believe in heading into the outdoor season.

"Logan, Connor, Jade, Cohen, Tyler, Nick, Cole, Danny, Isaiah, Nathan, and Noah stood out in difficult fields this weekend and came through for the team in a big way. We had great energy and effort this weekend and I am really proud of the them."

A few Gusties will compete at the UW-La Crosse NCAA Qualifier next Saturday before the NCAA Indoor Championships March 8-9 in Virginia Beach, Va.
