GRINNELL, Iowa — The Gustavus men's and women's swimming & diving team sent a small contingency to the Grinnell Last Chance Meet Saturday in hopes of improving their season times for a chance at the NCAA Championships.
The Gustie team of
Matt Strom,
Peyton Richardson,
Braden Ripken, and
Kieran Ripken finished their 200 medley relay with a time of 1:30.00. Individually,
Peyton Richardson was the top finisher in the 100 butterfly with a 49.21 finish, while
Matt Strom broke the school record in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in 49.46. The NCAA B cut for the 100 fly is 48.76 and 49.48 for the 100 backstroke.
The Gustie women competed in the 200 free relay, as the team of
Lucy Peterson,
Marit Isaacson,
Olivia Koeneman, and
Stella Anderson Moye touched the wall in 1:36.10, before bettering the finish in a time trial with a mark of 1:35.51. The NCAA B qualifying time is 1:35.37 in the event.

Matt Strom break the 100 backstroke record," 2024 MIAC Coach of the Year
Jon Carlson said. "I'm so proud of how our team performed, and it was a great finish to the regular season."
