Kate Carlson and
Megan Geraets opened up competition at the Division III NCAA Indoors Friday with prelims for the long jump and the 200-meter.
Geraets started the day in the long jump for the Gusties. The junior finished fourth in her heat with a mark of 5.47 meters (17-11.5), which was good for 12th overall. The finish, earned Geraets NCAA Second Team All-American honors in her NCAA Indoor debut. Emma Seipel of Loras won the event with a jump of 5.99 (19-8) in the finals.

Billy Visto. "For her first field event at nationals to improve on her seed coming into the meet and earn second team All-American was exciting."
Carlson and Geraets both raced in the 200-meter prelims Friday afternoon. Carlson, racing in heat two, finished in 24.95, a personal best for the junior in her first NCAA performance. The finish earns Carlson Second Team All-American honors. Geraets finished with a mark of 24.63, qualifying her for the finals, which will take place Saturday at 4:15 CST. The mark for Geraets sets a new personal best, and is now the top indoor mark in the MIAC in conference history.
"I'm so proud to have made it here and the way I performed," Carlson said. "Running along side my teammate made it even more special, and I can't wait to see what the rest of this year brings!"
Geraets continues competition tomorrow for the Gusties.
