Three Gusties Named USTFCCCA All-Region

5/18/2024 6:28:00 PM

NEW ORLEANS, La. — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Region honorees on Friday and three Gustavus women were selected to the North Region Team. Megan Geraets, Kate Carlson, and Madi Kes all earned the second All-Region honors of their season, as the three were also selected as USTFCCCA Indoor All-Region in March.

Geraets led the way for the Gusties, as the junior was named All-Region in three events. She owns the top marks in the North in both the 200-meter and 400-meter, with times of 23.97 and 55.88, respectively. Geraets also earned All-Region in the long jump. She qualified for nationals in two of her three events.

Carlson joined Geraets as All-Region in the 200, with the third-best time of 24.01. She added All-Region distinction in the 100-meter with a time of 11.85, which ranks third. Carlson is enjoying a breakout season, as the junior has become a top sprinter in the MIAC and now owns four USTFCCCA All-Region honors.

Madi Kes finishes her senior year with All-Region honors in the triple jump. Kes posted the second-best wind-legal jump in her career at the Augustana Midwest Final Qualifier earlier this week with a leap of 11.88 meters, just barely missing her own school record. The jump was a season-best performance in the last competition of her career. She concludes her career with the school's all-conditions triple jump of 12.10 meters and the wind-legal school record of 11.89 meters.

Geraets and Carlson will begin competition in Myrtle Beach at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday.
