MANKATO, Minn. — The Gustavus track & field team competed at the Maverick Open #2 on Saturday, the team's last meet before the MIAC Outdoor Championships next weekend. The Gusties continue to set personal and school records in their final tune up before the MIAC meet.
Jensi Jensen led the Gustie women off in the 100-meter to start the day, claiming two PRs, one a 13.33 qualifier and the other a 13.26 PR to claim sixth in the race. In the 800-meter,
Emily Dehn set a personal record 2:34.57 to take 10th. Two other Gusties added personal records in the event as well. In the 1500-meter,
Eleanor Osmond took sixth with a 5:34.09 PR, followed by teammate
Lauren Tillman, who took seventh with a PR of 5:36.23.
For the Gustie men on the track,
Zechariah Kyoore took third in the 100 with a PR of 11.21, followed by
Isaac Meyer in fifth (11.78) and
Aidan Charles in sixth (11.90). Kyoore added a seventh place finish in the 200 with a time of 25.46.
Reese Blondin (53.28),
Cullen Arneson (53.50), and
Tyler Stursa (53.76) went fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, in the 400. In the men's 800-meter,
Mark Rud led the Gustie squad with a fourth place finish in 2:01.00.
Henry Landsem took fourth in the 1500, followed by teammate
Luke Jenneke in sixth (4:29.88).
Will Janzen claimed the top spot in the 3000-meter steeple, finishing in 10:19.05.
In the field events,
Megan Geraets led the Gusties with yet another school record. The junior set the record in the long jump with a leap of 5.78 meters.
Lili Guy continued the horizontal jumps success, taking second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.22 meters.
Isaiah Subah added a 6.40 meter jump in the men's long jump to take eighth overall.
Olivia Duncan set two PRs in throwing events Saturday, taking seventh in the discus with a toss of 43.19 meters, followed by a 38.87 meter throw in the hammer to take 11th.
Rebecca Hoffman finished ninth in the hammer with a toss of 39.90.
The MIAC Outdoor Championships begin Friday, May 10, at Hamline University.
