SAINT PETER, Minn. — The 2023-24 Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, were released Tuesday and 12 Gustavus student-athletes received recognition for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom.
The At-Large category features Gustavus student-athletes in gymnastics, golf, and hockey. Sophomores
Chris Gutuza (Johannesburg, South Africa),
Pelayo Perez Crespo (Sotogrande, Spain), and
Cole Paulson (Sauk Rapids) represented the men's golf team, while the trio of
Nate Stone (So., Edina),
Jack Kubitz (Sr., Wayzata), and
Kylar Fenton (Jr., Grafton, Wis.) represented the men's hockey team. Women's golf senior captain
Annika Reierson (Delano) received the honor for the second consecutive season, while
Kendra Smaby (Sr., Palo Alto, Calif.) and
Maddox Lee (So., Hugo) represented the gymnastics team. Women's hockey had three individuals selected – seniors
Sophia Coltvet (Arden Hills),
Katie McCoy (Grafton, Wis.), and
Brooke Power (Lakeville).
To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. For ice hockey, student-athletes must have competed in 90 percent of the team's total games or have started 66 percent of the team's total games. For golf, student-athletes must have competed in 70 percent of the team's total varsity events that were team scoring events. And for gymnastics, student-athletes must be ranked in the top 75 in an event within their division according to Road To Nationals rankings.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, Second-, and Third-Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced next month.
