BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Chris Gutuza (Jr., Johannesburg, South Africa) was named the MIAC Men's Golfer of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 24. 

Gutuza led the Gusties at the prestigious Williams Invite, facing a number of top east coast teams at the Taconic Country Club. Gutuza helped the team win the tournament, and was the only player to shoot in the red through two rounds in Massachusetts. Gutuza collected his first individual tournament victory of his collegiate career, shooting a two-round 141 (73-68). On day two, he had only one hole that he didn't card even or a birdie. Gutuza's round two 68 ties his collegiate best 18-hole score, which he achieved twice last season. It was a season-low for the South Africa native. This is Gutuza's first Athlete of the Week honor.

The team proved its national ranking of No. 24 in the nation at the tournament, beating out a number of top teams for the title, including 21st-ranked Babson. Gustavus shot a two-round 303-287-590 and finished with three players in the top 10.

The No. 24 nationally-ranked men's golf team is back in action Saturday, hosting the Twin Cities Classic at Elk River Golf Club, Links at Northfork, and Le Sueur Country Club.
