BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. - The Gustavus men's golf team wrapped up the 2026 MIAC Men's Golf Championships on Monday, placing seventh with a score of +15 on the final day for a three-day total of +70.
First-year
Noah Gratil (Mellieha, Malta) had the best three-day score for Gustavus, shooting a 227, 11 shots over par. Behind him was sophomore
Kyle Peterson (Duluth, Minn.) who was +19 through the 54 holes to shoot a 235. Classmate
Ford Finster (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) was just one shot behind Peterson with a 236. The last two scores for Gustavus were senior
Blake Forrest (Maple Grove, Minn.) in his last MIAC Championships at 237 and sophomore
Charlie Looker (Cottage Grove, Minn.) with a 242.
On the final day, Gratil and Finster both had the best scores of the day, shooting 74s (+2) to close out the tournament. Gratil was more evenly paced with 16 pars and just two bogeys while Finster's round was more of a rollercoaster with five bogeys, three birdies, and 10 pars. Forrest was three shots behind with a +5 score that included a birdie on his final MIAC Championships hole. The final scorer of the day was Peterson, who shot a 35 on the front nine, but was plagued by two double bogeys or worse on the back nine to shoot a 43 and end with a 78.
The last 18 holes were much better than the first two days, as the team was +15 compared to +27 and +28 days, but the hole the team was put in was insurmountable, firmly cementing themselves in seventh place.
Gustavus will return to play on Sunday, October 18th through Tuesday, October 20th for the Golfweek Invitational at Sandestin Resorts in Destin, Florida.
