BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Katelyn Olson (So., Cloquet) was named the MIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 30. This is Olson's second honor of the year, as she also received the award for the week of Sept. 8

Over the weekend, Olson led the Gusties to their fourth and fifth shutouts of the season, including their first conference win of the year. Olson made two saves against Hamline for the shutout on Saturday, and had another impressive performance on Sunday, with eight saves against UW-River Falls. Olson saved a late Falcon PK and two last second shots to seal the 1-0 victory for the Gusties, their second consecutive. Olson also had seven saves in the Gusties' loss at Saint Mary's, another one-goal decision, and is averaging 5.4 saves per game.

Olson's five shutouts this season are tied for first in the conference with St. Olaf's Clara Luger. Her save percentage of .871 is second, while her 54 saves this season are the most.

The women's soccer team (5-3-2, 1-3-0 MIAC) will enjoy a week off of competition, returning to the field for a home MIAC showdown with Augsburg (4-2-3, 0-0-3 MIAC) on Saturday at the Gustie Soccer Field.
