OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Gustavus gymnastics team broke the program team vault record Friday night in Oshkosh, as the Gusties fell to the reigning national champion Titans, 194.150-185.600. The Gusties, who opened the season with a win over UW-Eau Claire the week before, collected a pair top-five finishes from Lili Guy (Sr., Glendale Heights, Ill.) and Olivia Jahnke (Sr., Hanover, Minn.).

In the first rotation for the Gusties, Maddox Lee (Jr., Hugo, Minn.) led the squad with a 9.525 on bars, a season-high for the junior. Lee finished tied for sixth, followed by Lily Horsch (Sr., Somonauk, Ill.), who took ninth with a 9.050. First-year Kate Clairmont (Grand Rapids, Minn.) was next with an 8.625, followed by Marley Michaud (Sr., Sartell, Minn.) with an 8.575. Guy finished with an 8.150, while Cara Wong (Fy., Sacramento, Calif.) posted an 8.050. The team finished with a 43.925 on the uneven bars.

The highlight of the night came on the vault, led by Guy, who claimed a career-high 9.750 to tie for second in the event and lead her team to a new program record. Guy's previous career-high was a 9.600, which she set the weekend before against UW-Eau Claire. Her 9.750 also breaks the previous team individual record. Lindsay Bangs (Sr., Owatonna, Minn.) added a 9.550 to the total, while Clairmont, Michaud, and Lee each posted a 9.450. Clairmont's 9.450 was a season-best score for her young career. The previous team vault record was 47.500, but it was overtaken by a 47.650 Friday night.

In the third rotation, Michaud and the Gusties posted a season-high 47.975 on floor, with Michaud taking seventh with a 9.675, matching the senior's career-best. Bangs added another career-high on the night with a 9.600. Lee and Guy each earned a 9.575 to share tenth, while Jahnke placed 12th with a 9.550. Wong added a 9.500 for the Gusties, who finished with a 47.975 on floor.

On the final rotation, Jahnke took fourth on the beam with a 9.700 to lead the Gusties, a career-high for the senior. Lee added a 9.500 as the next highest Gustie, followed by Michaud with a 9.050, Wong with a 9.000, and Bangs with an 8.800. The Gusties finished with a 46.060 on the beam as a team, while UWO (1-3, 1-0 WIAC) posted a 48.900.

The Gusties claimed the top two spots in the All-Around competition, as Lee claimed first with a 38.050 and Michaud second with a 36.750.
