PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Gustavus gymnastics team concluded its road trip to the East Coast at Rhode Island College, facing RIC and Utica in a triangular on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties placed third of the three teams, but broke the program vault record for the second meet in a row, totaling a 47.700.

Gustavus posted a team total of 184.100, while Utica finished second with a 185.325 and the host Anchorwomen took first with a score of 190.100.

Cara Wong (Fy., Sacramento, Calif.) led the Gusties on the beam, totaling a career-best 9.450 in the first rotation to take fifth in the event. Wong was followed by fellow first-year Megan Gille (Stoughton, Wis.), who took eighth with a 9.375 on beam in the first rotation for the Gusties. Adi Dack (Sr., Northfield, Minn.) added an 8.850 as the third-highest finisher for Gustavus. The Gusties totaled an event total of 45.025 on the beam.

The Gusties took to the floor in the second rotation, led by Lili Guy (Sr., Glendale Heights, Ill.) who took second with a career-high 9.750. Olivia Jahnke (Sr., Hanover, Minn.) was close behind, taking fifth with a 9.700, while Wong added a 9.575 in the event to further her all-around score. Lindsay Bangs (Sr., Owatonna, Minn.) added a 9.425, and Maddox Lee (Jr., Hugo, Minn.) finished with a 9.400 to contribute to a team score of 47.850.

Vault once again proved to be the Gusties' strong suit, as Lily Horsch (Sr., Somonauk, Ill.) won the event with a season- and career-best 9.650. Guy, who set the vault program record the weekend before, added a 9.600 to finish second behind her teammate. Wong contributed a 9.525, a career-best for the first-year, while Kate Clairmont (Fy., Grand Rapids, Minn.) posted a season- and career-best 9.500. The 47.700 betters the 47.650 the Gusties totaled last weekend at UW-Oshkosh.

In the fourth and final rotation, Gustavus posted a 43.525 on the uneven bars, led by Guy with a 9.150 for eighth. Horsch added the next best Gustie score with an 8.900.

Wong finished fifth in the all-around competition, totaling a 36.600. RIC's Olivia Keyes won the all-around with a 38.175.

The Gusties (1-4, 1-1 WIAC) continue their road stretch, traveling to Winona next weekend for a triangular at Winona State (2-3, 1-0 WIAC) with the Warriors and UW-La Crosse (2-0, 2-0 WIAC).
