Women’s Swim & Dive Takes Second at UW-Stevens Point Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team finished second of five teams at the UW-Stevens Point Invite, totaling 929 points through the two-day event on Jan. 24 and 25. 

The Gusties finished behind UW-La Crosse with 1371.5 points, and ahead of the host Pointers (610), Hamline (202.5), and UW-Eau Claire (51). The Blugolds only participated in the diving competition. 

Marit Isaacson (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) took first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:44.78, bettering her prelim time by over 10 seconds. The 400 medley team of Isaacson, Geneva Fackler (Fy., Plymouth, Minn.), Kateyln Siers (Fy., St. Cloud, Minn.), and Stella Anderson Moye (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) accounted for the second Gustie win on Saturday, touching the wall first in 3:40.81.

Anderson Moye and Siers also collected a pair of second place individual finishes for the Gusties, as MIAC Swimmer of the Week Anderson Moye finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.02. Siers took second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.15. 

The 200 medley relay team of Eloise Cooper (Fy., Stevens Point, Wis.), Lindsay Sundby (Jr., Randolph, Minn.), Isaacson, and Siers also finished second with a time of 1:51.31, while the Gustie B relay took sixth to score points in the event as well. 

Linnea Reinsmoen (Fy., Doha, Qatar) was the top Gustie in the 100 butterfly, finishing fourth overall with a time of 1:02.24. Mikayla Witte (Sr., Glencoe, Minn.) took seventh in the 200 backstroke with a 2:18.62, while Sundby led Gustavus with an eighth place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.49).

On the boards, Gabriella Stoudt (Jr., Maple Plain, Minn.) took eighth on the 1-meter board with a 350.45, followed by Erin Hall (So., Bloomington, Minn.) in 11th (331.35). Jessica Pagelkopf (So., Esko, Minn.) rounded out the Gustie divers with a 261.90 for 18th. 

The Gusties travel next to Collegeville, competing against Saint Benedict at the Warner Palaestra Pool next Saturday, Feb. 1.
