BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Eric Lyons Jr. of the Gustavus Adolphus College football team has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Football Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The senior corner capped off his collegiate career with a 103-yard interception return late in the fourth quarter to put an exclamation point on a 38-14 victory for Gustavus on senior day. He also had three pass breakups and seven total tackles for the Gusties in the win.
The Gustavus football team closed out their 2025 season 5-5 overall and 5-4 in the MIAC. The Gusties finished their season strong, winning five of their last six games. In those final six games, the Gustavus offense averaged 37.5 points per game while their defense held opponents to an average of 15.2 points per game.
