MADISON, Wis. – Lili Guy (Sr., Glendale Heights, Ill.) was named the WIAC Women's Gymnastics Specialist of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Guy had a career weekend in the Gusties' dual victory over Hamline, breaking the individual program vault record and helping the team set the top program score in the event for the third time this season. Guy's 9.775 led to a team score of 47.750, bettering the 47.00 set on Jan. 18. Guy also led the Gusties on the uneven bars and on floor. She finished second on bars with a 9.275, while her 9.700 on floor was good for first overall.
Guy now owns five of the Gusties' top six vault scores this season. Her season average is 9.639. She also set a new career-best on floor exercise earlier this season, posting a 9.750 at the Rhode Island Triangular on Jan. 18. Her floor average for the year is 9.564. She was 0.50 from her best bars score earlier this season, and is averaging a 9.011 on the uneven bars.
This is Guy's first weekly honor of her career and the second for the Gusties, as
Maddox Lee (Jr., Hugo, Minn.) was selected as the All-Arounder of the Week on Jan. 14. Eight other gymnasts were nominated for the award for the week of Feb. 10-16.
The Gusties (2-7, 2-5 WIAC) travel to Simpson (1-6, 0-5 WIAC) for their final road dual of the season and the first meeting between the two programs on Sunday, Feb. 23.Â
