3/17/2025 1:00:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Maizie Anderson (Jr., Rosemount, Minn.) was named the MIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday, March 17.

Anderson picked up a complete game victory and a save in a non-conference sweep of Bethany Lutheran on Friday, March 14, pitching the final 1.2 innings in game one, allowing just one hit and striking out three in seven batters faced for the 5-4 victory. In game two, Anderson pitched all seven innings, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits, striking out six batters and walking just two.

Through nine games this season, Anderson owns a 4-3 record in eight starts with one save. She's allowed 20 earned runs on 41 hits for an ERA of 3.86, and struck out 48 batters. Her 48 strikeouts are the most in the conference, while her 12 batters struck out looking also ranks first in the league. Her 46.2 innings pitched are fourth in the MIAC, four wins seventh, and .229 opposing batting average ninth.

This is Anderson's first weekly honor from the conference and the first for the Gustavus softball team since Kayla Herda (Sr., Farmington, Minn.) was named the Player of the Week on April 23, 2023. It is the team's honor for a pitcher since Piper Otto '23 received the same award on March 6, 2023 following a five inning no-hitter. Anderson has earned MIAC All-Conference honors in each of her first two seasons, and was named to the MIAC Playoff Team last year.

The Gusties (10-8 overall) open conference play in Moorhead in a couple weeks, traveling to Concordia (10-4 overall) for the first MIAC doubleheader of the season on April 2.
