SAINT PETER, Minn. – Gustavus senior gymnast
Lili Guy (Glendale Heights, Ill.) has been selected to compete at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Division III National Championships which will be hosted by Gustavus in Saint Peter on March 22.Â
The NCGA announced its selections Sunday afternoon (March 9). The national meet will be Guy's first of her career, where she will compete in the vault and the floor exercise.Â
The senior earned All-WIAC honors over the weekend on the floor, posting a 9.775 for fourth overall. The score matched her personal- and season-best, and she has now scored a 9.775 in the event in her last three consecutive meets.Â
Vault has been Guy's most consistent and most successful event of the season, helping her team set a new program record five different times, as well as tying the individual record early in the year, before setting the new individual score at 9.775 against Hamline on Feb. 14.
Guy has averaged a 9.660 on vault this season, scoring a 9.700 or above on five different occasions, including in all of her last four meets. On floor, she has averaged a 9.628 this season, trending upwards throughout the year with five scores of 9.700 or better in the event.Â
Guy has won the floor and the vault at three meets each in her final season. She owns five of the top six scores on vault for the Gusties this season, and eight of the top-10. On floor, all of the top four individual scores by the Gusties have come from Guy.Â
Guy will be joined by 27 other individual qualifiers at the national meet, as well as six teams in UW-Oshkosh, SUNY-Brockport, UW-La Crosse, SUNY-Cortland, UW-Whitewater, and Rhode Island College.Â
The championship event will be held in the Lund Center on Gus Young Court, with competition to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 22.Â
