LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Gustavus gymnastics team competed at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships Saturday, March 8, hosted by UW-La Crosse at Mitchell Hall Gymnasium, finishing seventh of nine teams at the meet in their team season finale.

The Gusties totaled a 188.500, their second-highest team total of the season, behind only the first 190 in program history against Simpson a few weeks earlier. The score is the fourth-highest in program history and just fourth over 188. For the fifth time this season, the Gusties broke the program vault record, totaling a 48.025 for the first score above a 48 in Gustavus gymnastics history. Three Gusties posted a new season-best in the event, while Malia Narciso (Fy., Roseburg, Ore.) and Lily Horsch (Sr., Somonauk, Ill.) each set a new career-high on vault.

Gustavus scored a 47.000 on beam, a 47.950 on floor, and a 45.525 on the uneven bars. UW-Oshkosh won the meet with a total of 193.925, followed by UW-La Crosse in second (192.975), UW-Whitewater in third (192.850), and Winona State in fourth (191.900).

The Gusties started the day on the beam, posting a 47 flat for the team's second-highest event score of the year. First-year Kate Clairmont (Grand Rapids, Minn.), in her WIAC Championship debut, led the Gusties with her third-highest score of the season with a 9.550, 0.025 shy of her personal-best. Clairmont's score was good for 23rd overall. Behind her was Olivia Jahnke (Sr., Hanover, Minn.), who finished with a 9.525 and Maddox Lee (Jr., Hugo, Minn.) with a 9.500. Cara Wong (Fy., Sacramento, Calif) added a 9.375, while Adi Dack (Sr., Northfield, Minn.) a 9.050.

Gustavus took to the floor exercise next, with three individuals posting season-bests, two of which were also personal records. Lili Guy (Sr., Glendale Heights, Ill.) led the squad with a 9.775, good for fourth overall, matching her personal- and season-best. Guy has now scored a 9.775 on floor in her last three consecutive meets.

Michaud added a new career-high of 9.750, also a top season score for the senior, who achieved a floor mark of above 9.700 for the first time in her career. Her score was good for ninth overall, followed by Jahnke's 9.725 in a tie for 17th, also a season-best, and 0.025 shy of her career high score. Lindsay Bangs (Sr., Owatonna, Minn.) finished with her second-highest score of the season at a 9.650.

The vault has been the Gusties' best event all season, and Saturday was no exception, as Bangs, Narciso, Michaud, Guy, Wong, and Horsch contributed to the new program record. Bangs collected a 9.500 for her second-highest score on vault this season. Michaud added a season-best 9.525, while Narciso posted a career mark of 9.550.

Both Guy and Horsch collected a 9.725, which was a career- and season-best for Horsch and her first time scoring above a 9.700. Guy collected her fifth score of above 9.700 this season, tying for 12th with her teammate.

Gustavus claimed its third-highest total on the uneven bars at the championship meet, collecting a 45.525 as a team. Lee led the squad with a 9.475, followed by a new season- and career-best 9.225 for Wong. Guy added a 9.125 to the event total for the Gusties, followed by an 8.875 for Horsch and 8.825 for Michaud.

Michaud and Wong were the two Gustie all-arounders at the championship meet, with the senior totaling a 36.850 and her first-year counterpart a 37.100. Wong's score marked the fourth time in her rookie season that she eclipsed 37 in her all-around total.

The WIAC also recognized its season award winners, honoring each Athlete of the Week from 2024-25, as well as the Gymnast, Newcomer, Coach, and Scholar Athlete of the Year. Oshkosh's Delaney Cienkus won Gymnast of the Year, while Stout's Jamie Beatty was selected as the Newcomer, Eau Claire's Toth the Scholar Athlete, and Whitewater's Jennifer Regan the Coach of the Year.
