Track & Field Dominates at Gustie Twilight

SAINT PETER, Minn. – Gustavus hosted its first home meet of the season Wednesday afternoon, welcoming four teams to Saint Peter. The Gusties dominated on both the track and in the field, securing numerous first-place finishes and breaking multiple meet records.

The meet opened with a win in the women's 4x100-meter relay, as Allison Stacy, Megan Geraets, Laura Thauvin, and Kate Carlson crossed the line in 49.03. Shortly after, both the women's (Aubrey Mair, Isabel Fynboh, Teagan Stark, Frances Lindgren – 10:19.67) and men's (Cohen Stursa, Markus Rupnow, Ty Swanson, Luke Jenneke – 8:36.65) 4x800-meter relay teams shattered meet records.

In the 1500m, Tyler Smith (3:59.01) and Nick Brauer (4:04.22) finished first and second, both setting meet records. Gustavus swept the podium in the women's 100m hurdles, led by Thauvin (15.28), followed by Chelsea Stahl (16.43) and Kayla Kajer (16.75).

Mair took third in the women's 400m with a time of 1:01.08, while Tennessee Fossen surged to first in the men's 400m at 50.36. Teammates Tyler Smith (51.51) and Reese Blondin (51.95) followed closely behind.

Carlson (12.27) and Stacy (12.72) finished first and second in the women's 100m. On the men's side, Zechariah Kyoore broke the 11-second barrier for the first time in his career with a 10.94, earning second place.

In the 800m, Tyler Stursa took the top spot with a 2:07.66. Lauren Rocheford (1:08.73) and Emily Podulke (1:08.90) went 2–3 in the women's 400m hurdles, while Landon Gilbertson led the men with a 58.83.

The Gusties swept the women's 200m podium, led by Geraets' meet-record 24.56, followed by Carlson (25.36) and Stacy (26.37). Tyler Heil placed third for the men with a 23.07.

In the 3000m, the Gustie distance squad delivered a commanding performance, sweeping the podium on both the men's and women's sides. Molly Liston shattered both the meet and facility records with a time of 10:20.85. Mackenzie Murphy followed in second at 11:24.22, and Elsey Hagen rounded out the top three in 11:58.50. On the men's side, Will Janzen claimed the meet record with a winning time of 8:56.31. Soren Sackreiter secured second at 9:16.78, and Evan Pouliot finished close behind in third with a 9:17.23.

On the field side, Alli Graff opened with a standout 3.50m pole vault to take first. Camille Finney followed in second with a 3.10m effort. Brendan Carlson led the men's high jump with a second-place finish (1.95m), while Kajer won the women's high jump with 1.60m.

Sarrah Linder claimed first in the triple jump with 11.09m, and Kajer earned another podium finish at 10.71m. Spencer Pearson led the men with 12.44m.

Geraets smashed her previous meet record in the long jump with a leap of 5.58m. Lili Guy placed second at 5.16m. Isaiah Subah (6.42m) and Liam Frommelt (6.30m) took the top two spots in the men's long jump.

In the hammer throw, Kelley Brennan took first with a 50.47m hurl. Zack Stordahl led the men with a 45.42m throw. Anna Lacy secured second in the javelin with a 28.81m mark.

The nation's fifth-ranked discus group showcased their depth, going 1–4. Brennan led with a 40.65m toss, followed by Olivia Duncan (39.34m), Arabella Sutch (38.54m), and Keira McCord (38.20m). Wyatt Hudspith claimed first for the men with 43.43m.

The meet wrapped up with another podium sweep in the women's shot put. Sutch led with 12.04m, followed by Brennan (11.30m) and McCord (11.24m).

Reflecting on the performance, Head Coach Aaron Lund said, "Going through the heart of our training in the outdoor season, we're still seeing a lot of personal records, which gives us great expectations heading into conference in a few weeks."

The Gusties will travel to Mankato to compete again on Friday, starting at noon.
