NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Gustavus women's track & field team finished seventh in the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Conference meet, highlighted on day two by a second place finish in the 3000-meter by senior
Molly Liston. The team ended with 55.5 points overall, adding 25.5 points from day one.
The meet started with the women's 55-meter hurdles, where sophomore
Laura Thauvin (Mankato, Minn.), who finished fourth in the event with a time of 8.64. Thauvin was the last to qualify in the event with a time of 8.69 and jumped four spots to get up to fourth in the finals.
In the 200-meter, sophomore
Allison Stacy (Maple Grove, Minn.) led the Gusties, finishing sixth overall with a time of 26.51, earning honorable mention status by one hundredth of a second and earning an additional point for the team.
The 3000-meter was the best event of the day for the Gusties, once again coming from standout senior
Molly Liston (Richfield, Minn.). Liston got second place in the event, outkicking Claire Vukovics of Carleton by 0.26 seconds. Liston was beaten by Hannah Preisser of Carleton, who Liston beat yesterday in the 5000-meter race.
The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of seniors
Lauren Rocheford (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) and
Isabel Fynboh (Morris, Minn.), sophomore
Teagan Stark (Glenwood, Minn.), and first-year
Katja Wallin (Arden Hills, Minn.) finished sixth overall to earn honorable mention status, running a 4:06.89.
First-year
Kaylee Hawks (Prior Lake, Minn.) won her second honor after placing fourth in the triple jump yesterday via the high jump. Hawks finished in a tie for sixth place, jumping over 1.54m to earn the odd numbered 2.5 points for the team for their only honor in the field.
The women's track & field team finished in seventh place this year at the indoor meet, only 3.5 points behind Macalester to rise up to sixth. Athletes will compete again next weekend at UW-La Crosse's Last Chance Meet on March 7th.
