SAINT PAUL, Minn. - For the third time in the past four seasons, Gustavus women's track & field has won the MIAC Outdoor Championships after collecting 170.5 points Friday and Saturday at Macalester. The Gustie men finished in fifth place.
"First and foremost, I want to acknowledge the incredible performances throughout all of the teams this weekend," said Head Coach
Aaron Lund. "There are now seven MIAC athletes ranked first in the nation and so many more now in the top ten. The MIAC will be well represented at nationals this year and will make a big impact!
"I am so incredibly proud of the entire team and our amazing coaches. The Gusties shined bright this weekend. On the men's side, we moved way up in our projections, had some big performances and showed a lot of fight to secure the really impressive fifth place finish.
"For the women's team, we were the most balanced and complete team this weekend. We scored in all but one event and every team member mattered. Their support of one another was unlike any other team out there today. We did our best when it means the most and that is very impressive. I know our families, friends and alumni are proud today and we have appreciated all of the amazing support!"
