BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Carson Koch of the No. 19 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's basketball team has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Koch led the defensive effort for Gustavus with 7.5 rebounds per game and 3.0 steals per game as the Gusties extended their winning streak to 11 games and improved to 13-1. Gustavus won both games last week, defeating St. Olaf 90-63 and Minnesota Morris 73-54. In the win over Minnesota Morris, senior wing's three steals helped the Gusties tie the single-game program record with 18 steals, matching the previous record set 25 seasons ago back on November 18, 2000 against Luther.
Up next for Gustavus is a conference road game at the Concordia University Cobbers in Moorhead on Wednesday, January 14 at 7:45 p.m.
