SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College gymnastics team battled the No. 2 nationally ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans in the Gusties' home opener on Friday night, falling 191.625-183.575.
Zara Reboks won the all-around title for Gustavus, scoring 37.175 points across all four events.
Cara Wong was the runner-up, scoring 36.550 total points during the meet.
Kate Clairmont placed first in the balance beam for Gustavus, leading the field with a score of 9.700. Reboks had the second-best Gustie score in the event at 9.475, placing fifth.
Megan Gille took ninth with a score of 8.825. The Titans won the beam 47.700-44.750.
Wong led Gustavus in the floor routine, placing fourth overall with a score of 9.600.
Makenna Aldrich and Gille followed right after, tying for fifth with matching scores of 9.525. UW-Oshkosh narrowly took the floor event 47.850-47.375.
Clairmont had the top score for the Gusties in the vault, scoring 9.650 to tie for fourth place. Wong followed in seventh with a score of 9.625.
Malia Narciso scored 9.375, placing ninth. The Gusties fell 48.450-47.200 to the Titans in the vault.
Autumn Schmidt scored a 9.500 in the uneven bars, leading Gustavus with a fifth-place finish. Wong took seventh with a score of 9.150 and Reboks was ninth at 9.050. The Gusties scored 44.250 in the event, but UW-Oshkosh scored 47.700.
Up next for the Gusties is a conference road meet at the No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks on Saturday, January 31 at 4:00 p.m.
