SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College gymnastics team battled the No. 1 nationally ranked University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Eagles at home on Friday night, falling 190.800-183.225.
Cara Wong led the Gusties at the meet, winning the all-around title with 36.250 points and tying for first place in the vault against the No. 1 Eagles with a score of 9.650.
Kate Clairmont followed in the vault in sixth place, scoring 9.500.
Taylor Hall followed in a tie with La Crosse for seventh place in the vault, scoring 9.450.
Wong had the top Gustavus score in the floor exercise as well. The sophomore earned a 9.525 to tie for third in the event.
Zara Reboks (9.450),
Megan Gille (9.400), and
Mollie Ruch (9.375) followed for the Gusties, taking fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively.
Gille led Gustavus in the balance beam, placing fifth with a score of 9.600.
Autumn Schmidt and Clairmont followed in seventh and eighth for the Gusties, scoring 9.475 and 9.300 respectively.
Schmidt had the top score for Gustavus in the uneven bars, placing sixth with 9.350. Clairmont followed in eighth with 9.150.
Up next for the Gusties is a road trip to Menomonie, Wisconsin to take on the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Friday, February 20 at 6:00 p.m.
