MINNEAPOLIS - The Gustavus Adolphus College women's swimming and diving team is competing this week in the MIAC Championship. Hosted at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota campus, the four-day championship runs February 11-14.
Entering the evening of the third day of the championship with a 10-point lead over current runner-up St. Olaf atop the standings, the Gusties put on an extraordinary performance to build their lead up to 105.5 points, scoring 268 points on Friday to bring their three-day total to 520. St. Olaf stands in second place entering the final day of the championship with 414.5 points. Macalester rounds out the current top-three with 385.5 points.
Annika Beck placed second in the 400 IM for Gustavus, swimming the race in 4:35.46 to set a new personal record.
Geneva Fackler was the runner-up in the 200 freestyle, leading the Gusties with a time of 1:55.05.
Katelyn Siers took second place in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 56.63. The mark set a new PR for the Gustavus sophomore, besting her time of 57.03 at last year's championship.
The Gusties' 200 freestyle relay team finished as the runner-up in the championship race. The squad of

Leah Felton, Fackler, and Siers combined to swim the race in 1:35.84 to set a new top time this season for Gustavus.
Madison Witte led the Gusties in the 100 butterfly, placing fourth with a time of 58.65.
Hadley Wartner finished in the top-five overall for Gustavus in the 100 breaststroke, swimming the race in 1:07.53.
Up next for Gustavus is the fourth and final day of the MIAC Championships this Saturday, February 14. The scheduled women's finals events for the evening session beginning at 6:30 p.m. are the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, three-meter dive, and 400 free relay.
