Gymnastics Secures First Victory of Season at Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Gustavus gymnastics team claimed a WIAC dual victory over Hamline University 182.575-180.800 on Friday, February 6 at Walker Fieldhouse. The victory marks the Gusties' first win of the season and their first over the program's only MIAC opponent.
 
All-arounder Cara Wong (So., Sacramento, Calif.) posted a leading score of 37.200, followed by Zara Reboks (Fy., Thunder Bay, Ontario) who placed third with a 36.250.
 
Wong placed second on the uneven bars in the first rotation, recording a 9.200.

Kate Clairmont (So., Grand Rapids, Minn.) led the Gusties on vault in their second rotation of the night, scoring a 9.600 for the highest score of the meet. Taylor Hall (Fy., Gresham, Ore.) followed with a career high of 9.475 to place second, while Malia Narciso (So., Roseburg, Ore.) added a 9.450, and Wong scored a 9.400 to finish third and fourth overall, respectively. The Gusties' 47.225 outscored Hamline's 46.175 to win the event and post a season high.
 
On the floor, Reboks tied for first with a career-high 9.550. Wong placed third with a 9.450, and Gille followed in fourth with a 9.275. Hailey Henry (Fy., Forest Lake, Minn.) made her floor debut, competing in an exhibition routine that scored an 8.825.
 
The Gusties won the beam in the final rotation, 46.035-44.600, led by Clairmont's 9.550. Megan Gille (So., Stoughton, Wis.) followed with a 9.425 to place second, while Wong scored a 9.150 to finish fourth.
 
Coming up next Friday, the Gusties will host UW-La Crosse at a home meet in the Sponberg Gymnastics Studio on February 13 at 6:00 p.m.
