Mortenson Named CCM/AHCA All-American

3/26/2026 8:00:00 PM

SAINT PETER, Minn. - Gustavus senior Lily Mortenson (Champlin, Minn.) added one more accolade to her trophy case on Thursday, being named a CCM/AHCA All-American, selected for the West Region Second Team. Mortenson garners the 34th All-American honor in program history and the second of her career.

The AHCA announced their All-American teams on Thursday night at the Frozen Four and Mortenson was accompanied by two MIAC counterparts on the second team, MIAC Defensive Player of the Year Nora Stepan of Augsburg and Hamline's Abigail Chamernick. This is the second honor for both seniors Mortenson and Stepan, who were named to the West Region First Team in 2025.

The Champlin native's senior season rounded off as being named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row in addition to other superlatives. Mortenson earned the award after leading the conference with 21 points in conference play, four power-play goals, and a 64.0 percent face-off win percentage.

Mortenson only had seven games this season without a point while averaging exactly one point per game throughout the season. In the first game of the season, the senior had two assists against St. Norbert before starting MIAC play against St. Olaf. In the second game against St. Olaf, Mortenson scored her first goal of the season at a perfect time, scoring the overtime winner to split the weekend series. The next weekend, the forward had three points, including a two-goal game on Saturday to help the Gusties defeat the Cobbers, 3-2. Mortenson played hero again the following Tuesday, scoring the sole goal in a 1-0 overtime win over UW-Eau Claire. Against No. 2 Augsburg the next weekend, Mortenson had three points, a goal and an assist in a split and scored her last goal of 2025 against Adrian in a weekend split with the No. 9 team in the country.

After the new year, Mortenson was paired with fellow captain Kylie Scott (Dayton, Minn.) on a line, which increased production on both ends. When the new year rang, Mortenson sat at 99 career points and suffered an unlucky three-game streak from December 13th, 2025 to January 16th, 2026, when she found an assist for point No. 100. This got the point-scoring flowing again, bringing in four points the next weekend against St. Catherine. The senior continued to pile on after that with a three-point weekend against Bethel before being slowed down against eventual MIAC Playoff Champion Saint Benedict, scoring an empty net goal on Saturday as her only mark. Mortenson and Scott continued to combine on the first line, starting with a goal for Scott that was assisted by Mortenson in a 4-0 win against St. Scholastica. On the power-play the next weekend against No. 3/7 Hamline, Mortenson found fellow senior Grace Schuck (Bloomington, Minn.) for the game-tying goal in the second period to round off the regular season. The senior was not quite ready for her career to be done come playoff time either, scoring a goal and adding an assist in the quarterfinal round against Bethel before adding an assist on the game-winning goal in overtime against No. 2 Augsburg.

Ending with 114 points, Mortenson finishes tied for 10th all-time with Brooke Power '24 across four seasons of play and 110 games played. This is the second year in a row that Mortenson has been named an All-American after earning both AHCA and DIII Hockey News First Team selections last year along with being the Laura Hurd National Player of the Year Runner-Up. In her career at Gustavus, Mortenson played with five other All-Americans and saw a total of seven honors garnered before her selection this year.
