3/9/2026 2:00:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Gustavus senior Lily Mortenson (Champlin, Minn.) led the way for the Gusties all season and today was no different when the MIAC announced their 2025-26 MIAC Women's Hockey Awards. Mortenson was named the Offensive Player of the Year for the second season in a row, while sophomore Eva Nelson (Buffalo, Minn.) earned her first honor and junior Kylie Scott (Dayton, Minn.) earned her second All-Playoff Honor while adding a MIAC Honorable Mention honor.

Mortenson becomes the fourth player in the history of Gustavus women's hockey, following in the footsteps of Sarah Garrison Moe, Andrea Peterson, and Hailey Holland. The Champlin native caps off one of the most influential careers in Gustavus women's hockey history with the award by scoring 11 more goals and adding 17 assists. In conference games, Mortenson had 21 points (8 G, 13 A) to tie for the lead in the conference with Defensive Player of the Year Nora Stepan from Augsburg. The senior captain's best weekend of the season came against St. Catherine, where she scored a goal and added an assist in each game. Mortenson also added 13 shots on goal in a single game a week later, the most by a single player since November 12th, 2021, when Kayla Vrieze also registered 13. Mortenson dominated in the faceoff dot as well, winning 64 percent (199-for-311) of her faceoffs in conference play, the highest percentage by 3.3 percentage points. Overall, Mortenson ranked in the top 25 in the conference in 13 statistical categories to help lead her to a second consecutive Offensive Player of the Year honor.

Nelson was named both All-Conference and to the All-Playoff team, her first honor for both. Nelson ranked third in the conference in shots, firing 80 on opposing goaltenders while holding it down on the Gustavus blue line. In conference play, the Buffalo native had nine points, three goals and six assists while taking the second most shots on the team (80) and blocking nine shots.

Junior captain Scott was named both a MIAC Honorable Mention and to the All-Playoff team. Scott turned it up in the second half of the season after switching to forward and joining Mortenson's line after the new year. Scott scored 8 goals in conference play and added four assists, including a stretch of four games in a row with a goal and a separate three-game span. In the MIAC Playoffs, Scott had two assists in the quarterfinal goal, scored the overtime winner in the semifinal, and scored the lone Gustie goal in the championship game. Scott led the conference with four game-winning goals as well in MIAC contests and ranks sixth in the country overall with five game-winning goals. The junior added a second All-Playoff honor to her resume after earning the distinction in her first year as well after a goal and assist in the MIAC Playoff Semifinal against Bethel.

Mortenson earned her third honor and second Player of the Year award of her career. Nelson joins Mortenson as the 115th and 116th All-Conference honors in program history while Nelson and Scott make up the ninth and 10th All-Playoff Team honors.
