4/21/2026 1:00:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Molly Liston of the Gustavus Adolphus College women's track & field team has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Liston crushed the school's 10,000-meter school record on Thursday at the Phil Esten Challenge, finishing in 35:36.38. The senior won the meet by just under 29 seconds and 100 meters in a WIAC heavy field. The record before Liston had stood for 10 years in the Gustavus record books, set by Marit Sonnesyn in 2016 with a 36:10.38. The Richfield native beat it by 34 seconds.

At the time of the race, the mark unofficially stood at 13th in the country and now, after the weekend, is good for 15th. Liston also sits first in the conference, ahead of second place by nine seconds. Liston's time was also almost a three and a half minute career personal record, which she set at the MIAC Championships last season.

Up next for Gustavus is a busy week as they hold four events starting on Wednesday at the University of Minnesota Invite.
