BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Maizie Anderson of the Gustavus Adolphus College softball team has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
 
Anderson earned wins in both of her appearances for Gustavus last week, leading them to clinch the No. 4 seed in the MIAC Playoffs. The senior did not allow a run to score in her 13 innings of work, holding opponents to just four hits and a .105 batting average while striking out 11.
 
Entering the second game against St. Kate's in the second inning with the Gusties trailing 1-0, Anderson held the Wildcats to just three hits the rest of the way while striking out seven as Gustavus rallied to win 2-1. In her start in Gustavus' regular season finale, the senior shut out Bethel while allowing only one hit and striking out four in a stellar seven-inning complete game win.
 
Gustavus will battle the St. Catherine Wildcats at home in Saint Peter this Thursday, May 7 at 4:30 p.m. on the opening day of the MIAC Playoffs.
