Abdo Named PING All-American Honorable Mention

NORMAN, Okla. – Jimmy Abdo of the No. 22 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's golf team has been named a 2026 NCAA Division III PING All-American Honorable Mention, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced on Thursday.
 
Abdo led the Gusties this season with a 72.1 adjusted scoring average through 28 rounds. The sophomore finished the year as the No. 51 Division III golfer in the nation.
 
This past August, Abdo began the year with a historic Cinderella run at the United States Golf Association (USGA) 125th U.S. Amateur Championship. The Gustie sophomore, who entered the tournament as the No. 4292 ranked amateur in the world, battled through early round stroke play, a playoff, and three rounds of match play against the best amateur golfers in the world to make an incredible Cinderella run to the quarterfinals that captured the support and admiration of the nation.
 
After making waves on the national stage, Abdo returned home and maintained a high level of play, including an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Preview, going -3 through three rounds.
 
The Edina native has earned multiple awards this season in addition to All-American honors, having also being named PING All-Region, the MIAC Golfer of the Year, and MIAC All-Conference.
 
This past season, the Gusties' team won five events, starting at the Minnesota Classic and the Twin Cities Classic in the fall. The team won three events in a row heading into the NCAA Championships, where the team finished 29th of 43 overall.
