SAINT PETER, Minn. - Five members of the Gustavus baseball team have been named CSC Academic All-District, College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday, celebrating their combined athletic and academic achievements during the 2026 season.

The five honorees for Gustavus this year include two seniors, two juniors, and one sophomore, including one repeat honoree and four first-time mentions. Seniors Tomas Nelson (Maplewood, Minn.) and Ross Hebel (Prior Lake, Minn.) join juniors Simon James (Minnetrista, Minn.) and Brayden Kohls (Norwood, Minn.), while sophomore Jackson Golberg (Prior Lake, Minn.) also made the grade.

The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately
recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Kohls is the only repeat honoree, joined by four who earned the mark for the first time in their careers.

Nelson maintained a 3.784 GPA as a Computer Science major through graduation and joining him walking the stage and earning his diploma was Hebel, who was a double major in Chemistry and Economics and kept a 3.953 GPA. For the juniors, James, a Social Studies Teaching major, held a 3.608 GPA while Kohls holds a 3.66 GPA as a Nursing major. Golberg is the final honoree as a sophomore and is majoring in Exercise Physiology with a 3.723 GPA.

The Gustavus baseball team ended with a 19-20 record and a 10-10 record in the MIAC, while Kohls and Golberg earned individual recognition as MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mentions.
