UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - The Gustavus men's golf team had the opportunity to play at Chambers Bay today, the site of the 2015 U.S. Open and were led by sophomore Kyle Peterson, who shot a 1-under 71. 

Sophomore Kyle Peterson (Duluth, Minn.) led the Gusties with his 71, which was fairly clean with just two birdies and two bogeys. In just the six-team field, Peterson is tied for fifth through 18 of 36 holes. Behind him were three players at +4 (76), all tied for 16th. Sophomore Charlie Looker (Cottage Grove, Minn.) had a 39-37 path to 76, which included four birdies as well. Senior Blake Forrest (Maple Grove, Minn.) had 34 on the back nine, paired with a rocky 42 on his first nine holes, while first-year Noah Gratil (Mellieha, Malta) went 35-41-76, which had four birdies.

The Gusties ended the day +11 as a whole, in sixth place entering the back half of the event tomorrow morning to end the Whitworth Golf Invitational.
