SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus men's hockey team Saturday wrapped up its home series against the University of Dubuque with a 2-2 tie, moving to 1-0-1 on the season.
Artem Korolev scored both Gustie goals.
Kylar Fenton and
Micah Gernander assisted Korolev's first score at the 8:55 mark of the first and then
Drew Holt and
Wilmer Svensson found Korolev for his second 1:16 into the second frame for a 2-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, the Spartans took advantage of a power play to end the shutout out and then tied the game at the 8:25 mark. Neither team was able to score in the third or the five-minute overtime.
Gustavus went 0-for-3 on the power play while the Spartans were 1-for-4. Gustavus edged Dubuque in shots 29-28.
Marko Belak made his first career start and made 26 saves in the draw.
The Gusties continue play at Don Roberts Ice Rink next weekend against nationally-ranked opponents UW-Stevens Point on Friday and UW-Eau Clarie on Saturday.
