SAINT PETER, Minn. — The Gustavus women's hockey team extended its win streak — and shutout streak — with a 4-0 win over Bethel in Saint Peter Friday night. The Gusties scored two first period goals and added one in the second and third to roll to their fourth straight win, and third shutout of the year. The Gusties are now 4-0-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the conference.
Brooke Power wasted no time at all to start the scoring for the Gusties, tallying what would be the game-winner just 0:54 into the first period.
Hailey Holland fed Power the puck in the center of the offensive zone, and a quick shot through the legs of Bethel goaltender Anna Hanson gave the Gusties an early 1-0 lead.
Hannah Gray added her fourth of the season midway through the first, converting on the power play to give Gustavus a 2-0 lead at intermission one.
Macy Janssen scored her first collegiate goal in the second period, as the first-year tucked in a bouncing puck on the post.
Sophia Coltvet sealed the win at 4-0 in the final minutes of play, sending a rocket of a power play goal over the left shoulder of Hanson with 1:02 left on the clock.
Janssen and
Emily Olson led the Gusties with two points each.
Hailey Holland posted five shots on goal of the Gusties' total 33, while Coltvet, Gray, and
Lily Mortenson, in her first game back from injury, all added four.
Katie McCoy posted her third shutout in as many games, saving all 14 Bethel shots she faced.
The Gusties return to action on the road tomorrow, heading to Blaine, Minn. to face the Royals at 3 p.m.
