LA CROSSE, Wis. - For the second consecutive game, the Gustavus women's basketball team held its opponent to single digit scoring in each of the first two quarters, resulting in a 64-48 victory at UW-La Crosse on Sunday. The 15th-ranked Gusties improve to 3-0 overall while the Eagles drop to 3-4.Â

Syd Hauger 3:39 into the game broke a 2-2 tie and the Gusties led the rest of the way. The Gustie defense held the Eagle to nine points in the first quarter and continued to clamp down in the second quarter, allowing just eight points, while increase the margin to 16 points at halftime, 33-17.Â
Gustavus had its strongest offensive output in the third quarter scoring 23 points and gaining a 21-point advantage, the largest of the game, at 56-35.Â
Kylie Baranick was one rebound shy of a triple double, scoring a game-high 13 points with 10 assists and nine boards.
Emma Kniefel also reached double figure scoring with 10 points while adding six rebounds.Â
The Gusties shot 40.7 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Eagles 54-37. The home team was limited to 24.2 percent from the floor and 18.2 percent from beyond the arc.Â
Gustavus next travels to Augsburg on Saturday for a 1 p.m. MIAC matchup in Minneapolis.Â
