ROME, Ga. – The Gustavus men's tennis team continued competition at the 2024 ITA Cup in Rome, Ga., highlighted by the play of Josh Christensen (Sr., Rochester) and Marco Siviero (Sr., Sao Miguel de Oeste, Brazil). The doubles tandem earned All-America honors Thursday en route to the tournament's quarterfinals, where they defeated a team from Johns Hopkins to advance to the semifinal match.

Gage Gohl (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Siviero both started the day in the singles consolation bracket, as Gohl faced Whitman's Cameron Yang and Siviero Middlebury's Neel Epstein. 

Following a loss in straight sets the day before, Gohl delivered the same fate to Yang, winning by two scores of 6-4 to advance to the consolation semifinal. Siviero played a three-set battle in his first of two matches for the day, eventually falling to Epstein 3-6, 6-2, 5-7.

For the second consecutive year, Christensen and Siviero are one match away from competing for a national championship, as the duo defeated JHU's Allen Gong and Dylan Blenkiron in their quarterfinal match Friday afternoon. Gong and Blenkiron won a back-and-forth set one, 7-6, with a 7-4 tiebreaker to take the early 1-0 lead. The Gusties came back with a 6-3 win in set two to force the third set tiebreaker. Christensen and Siviero emerged victorious, winning 10-8 to head back to the semifinals. 

The Gustie pair will face Ethan Green and Kael Shalin Shah of Denison, runners-up of the ITA Central Region Championship, at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
